1. Will extensions damage my hair?
Not if done correctly – your hair needs to be properly prepared, the hair extensions should be applied correctly and they should be removed by a qualified Great Lengths technician.
2. Can I brush my hair?
You should brush your hair regularly – using a soft cushion brush and brushing from the roots to ends
3. Which shampoos and conditioners can I use on my hair?
The nxt range of products have been especially formulated for use with the Great Lengths
extensions. Always use a professional product with pH 5.5
4. How do I shampoo my hair?
Brush your hair through first. Do not tip your head forward. Shampoo your hair using the
balls of your fingers. After conditioning, comb through with a wide tooth comb.
Treatments: Your Extensions need a regular professional moisturizing treatment to ensure the hair maintains its silky tangle free condition
5. Can I use styling products?
Yes – but take care to keep the styling products away from the bonds
6. Can I blow-dry my hair?
Blow-drying is not a problem. Unless your hair is naturally curly, dry your hair off by 50%
before blow-drying. Extensions can be tonged/set/crimped/flat ironed & blow dried.
Keep heated tools away from the bonds
7. How long will my extensions last?
Usually 3 – 8 months depending on your hair type and how well you have maintained your
extensions. We recommend every 4-6 weeks maintenance after the initial installation. It is
not necessary to replace all of the extensions each time. Standard extensions tend to last longer than fine extensions
8. How do I take the extensions out?
Extensions must be removed by a qualified Great Lengths technician. He / she will use a
specially formulated Great Lengths gel solution and a removal clamp.
9. How long will it take to put them in?
The average for a full head application, is 3 – 6 hours. This will depend on the technician and the numbers of extensions required.
10. How much will it cost?
The cost will vary depending on the number and length of extensions installed. The average
for a full head of extensions is 150 – 230 extensions
11. Can I swim?
Swimming is possible. After swimming however, rinse, shampoo and condition your hair as
soon possible and dry the bonds off. Salt water and chlorine can cause damage to the bonds.
12. How do I sleep with my extensions in my hair?
If you have long hair, tie your hair back when sleeping to prevent matting
13. Can I perm my hair?
It is preferable to perm the extensions and your hair separately first and then have the
extensions installed.
14. Can I colour my hair?
Hair can be colour shampooed, but not tinted. If you have regular tints, you can have your
regrowth done. Foil hi-lights are also possible – but need to be done with care
15. Can I re-use my extensions?
No – the lifespan of the bond cannot be guaranteed if re-used.
To avoid damage to your own hair, the extensions should be removed and not left to brush
out.
